Tapovan
Literally meaning 'the forest of meditation', Tapovan has a number of ancient temples including a temple dedicated to Lord Rama's brothers Lakshmana and Bharata.
Lakshmana Jhula
This is a 450 feet long suspension bridge that was built in the year 1939 over the River Ganga , Lakshman Jhula has turned out to be the chief attraction of Rishikesh. The bridge is made of iron but it is completely suspended. If you walk in the middle of the bridge you will find the bridge swaying mildly. You can not simply ignore the beauty of the surroundings. There is also another similar suspended bridge called Ram Jhula. These two beautiful suspended bridges are two hot destination in Rishikesh.
Mahadeo Temple
Located at a distance of 12 km from Rishikesh at a height of 5000 feet, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Mythology says that in the ancient times when the ocean was being churned for 'amrit' (Potion for immortality), first venom oozed out. Lord Shiva drank the venom at a place which is now called Nilkanth Mahadeo
Triveni Ghat
On the bank of river Ganga, hundreds of people come here every day to take a dip in the holy river.
This is a bathing ghat. The gentle murmur of the river is very fascinating. In the evening you will find thousands to people sitting on the bank to watch the religious function called "Arati" conducted during evening every day. The place is peace personified. It is very soothing to sit on the banks of the river and enjoy the cool breeze from the river. You will not even notice when it has become dark. Time will seem to fly past you.
Swarga Ashram
One can find numerous temples here. Each of these temples are extremely beautiful and is worth to visit. There are also a few eating restaurants where you will find some good Indian delicacy. Here people are vegetarian and you will not have the opportunity to taste non-vegetarian food. The beautiful statues in the area mesmerise the visitors. Vasishtha Goofa
